Touch Therapy is treating body's ordinary sicknesses
with a careful massage with hands and sometimes feet.
Aromatherapy-
Aromatherapy means "therapy i.e. treatment with aromas i.e. perfumes
or scents". It is a natural treatment through massagefor the body’s
ordinary sicknesses with pleasant smelling botanical oils such
as rose, lemon, lavender, pine, peppermint and so many others.
These essential oils are added to the bath or massaged into the
skin, inhaled directly or diffused to scent an entire room. Aromatherapy
is used for the relief of pain, care for the skin, alleviate tension
and fatigue and invigorate the entire body. Essential oils can
affect the mood, alleviate fatigue, reduce anxiety and promote
relaxation. When inhaled, they work on the brain and nervous system
through stimulation of the nerves and produces the desired effect.
The essential oils are extracted from plants, flowers, trees,
fruits, bark, grasses and seeds with distinctive therapeutic properties,
which improve and prevent illness. Most of these oils have antiseptic
properties; some are antiviral, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving,
antidepressant and expectorant. Other properties of the essential
oils which are taken advantage of in aromatherapy are their stimulation,
relaxation, digestion improvement, and diuretic properties. To
get the maximum benefit from essential oils, it should be made
from natural, pure raw materials. Synthetically made oils do not
work.
Massage therapy-
Massage Therapy has four main stages of healing through massage:
relief, correction, strengthening, and maintenance. 1) Relief:
The first few sessions of massage therapy will be aimed to relieve
pain, reduce muscle tension and relax stressed nerves. 2) Correction
: When the pain is gone, the therapist will work on the problem
that caused the pain. Techniques will be aimed at stimulating
your lymphatic system and freeing knotted and scarred muscle fibers.
3) Strengthening : Strengthening is important in a badly damaged
area. Weakness at the injury site can mean recurring problems.
Techniques are aimed at strengthening the tissues near the injury
enabling them to provide adequate support to heal the injury.
4) Maintenance : Maintenance is the final stage of therapy. Maintenance
techniques are aimed at treating the problem and preventing the
occurrence of new problems.
Reiki- Reiki
is a form of massage therapy. It is a healing technique that originated
in Tibet and has been practiced for over 2,500 years. It is believed
that reiki can relieve pain, boosts the immune system and relieves
acute problems because physical manifestations of pain are often
linked to emotional, mental and spiritual states. Reiki practice
consists of the practitioner placing his hands upon the person
to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and then the
energy begins flowing. The reiki practitioner uses their hands
to channel energy from the universe to your body so your body
can heal itself.
Sports Massage-
Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used
before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the
massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain
away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to
promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. The main purpose
of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and
tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical
activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion
and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively.
Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so
often get in the way of performance and achievement.
Depending on the needs of the athlete, a variety of techniques
are used. The techniques that can bring good results are Swedish
Massage, Shiatsu and also Ayurvedic massage. Each type of sport
has different demands on the players. Each sport uses muscle groups
in a different way. Sports massage is designed to address those
specific concerns and may differ according to the sport the athlete
plays.
Sports massage reduces the heart rate and blood pressure, increases
blood circulation and lymph flow, reduces muscle tension, improves
flexibility, and relieves pain. Sports Massage can also include
pre-event, post-event and maintenance techniques that promote
greater athletic endurance and performance, lessen chances of
injury and reduce recovery time. |
